In Deep is a new beginning, a process of revitalisation. Different from anything in his past, this music represents a collection of ideas that Jon Keliehor previously kept at arms length. By helping school pupils define and access their own ideas about music, Keliehor found himself forced to look outside of his own expectations about music and in so doing, he has defined a new approach to his music.

2007 was a year of deep change personal change, a time to redefine many aspects in his life. Here he has cast aside barriers that had previously protected a well guarded approach to music, and has gained a recognition that the exploration of 'source musics' can have many faces. Quite possibly there is a melody maker deep-down-within who needs a little room to breath. A set of remarkable new music-works has arrived.

"In past works I have put percussion sound at the forefront of my music and placed a limitation on the instruments that I chose as traveling companions. I closed the door on guitars and pianos as they confused the subtle melodies that emanate from percussion instruments. With In Deep I've shifted away from those concerns, taking down the NO ADMITTANCE signs, making a bridge leading toward modern music styles."
